Checking and replacing fuses

Fuses melt when overloaded to prevent damage to the wiring harness and electrical equipment. If any lights, fixtures, or other electrical controls are not working, check the appropriate fuse. If the fuse is blown, replace it.

  1. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position and turn off all electrical accessories.
  2. Remove the cover.
  3. Determine which fuse is likely to blow.
  4. Pull out the fuse with a puller.
  5. Examine the fuse. If it is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the same rating.
  6. If the same fuse blows again, it indicates a problem with your system. Contact your SUBARU dealer for repair.

Notice

  • Never replace a fuse with a fuse of a higher rating or with a material other than the fuse, as serious damage or fire may result.
  • We recommend that you always carry spare fuses with you.

Main fuse and fuse

Main fuses and fuses melt when overloaded to prevent damage to wiring harness and electrical equipment. Check main fuses and fuse if any electrical component is not working (except starter) and other fuses are OK. The main fuse or blown fuse must be replaced. Use spare parts only with the same rating as the main fuse or fuse. If the main fuse or fuse is blown after replacement, have your nearest SUBARU dealer check the electrical system.
