How to check the outdoor temperature sensor on LADA
In all modern LADA cars, depending on the configuration, an outside air temperature sensor can be installed, which transmits readings to the instrument panel. If the instrument cluster shows the wrong temperature overboard, then this sensor may be faulty. Before replacing, check it with a multimeter.
Where is the air temperature sensor:
- on the Lada Grant/Kalyna/Prior on the lower cross member of the body;
- on Lada Vesta/XRAY in the lower left corner of the engine cooling radiator deflector.
To remove it, in some cases it may be necessary to remove the front bumper and engine protection.
How to test the ambient temperature sensor? The easiest way is to change the sensor to a working one. If you have an ohmmeter, you can measure the resistance across its leads and compare it to the data in the table:

In a Lada Vesta car, to check the sensor, it is proposed to assemble an electrical circuit:
Then apply voltage U=3,2 V ±1% to the sensor through a constant resistor R=4420 Ohm ±1%, which simulates a combination of devices. Determine the resistance of the sensor by voltage Ux.

Manufacturer's recommendations: Check the sensor by immersing the sensor in a container with a silicone liquid of a certain temperature, after 3 minutes of holding, measure the voltage Ux.
Note: In summer, in traffic jams, the readings of the outside air temperature may be too high, because the sensor is not burned by air, but is heated by hot asphalt and the engine.
If the tidy does not show room temperature, and the sensor works, then this is a broken wiring or poor contact.

I removed the cover and the radiator is brand new.
In place of the sensor there is nothing but two wires stretched over the corrugation. One for the fog lights (pins on the photo). And pulsation on the sensor. Good thing they had cables.
The wires are torn, cut, stripped.
I bought a sensor along with a contact, cut the wires, cleaned ...
Installation - twisted wires.
Checking the operation of the sensor, 10 degrees. Everything is working.
Tightened the twist, insulated the wires.
He took off the corrugation, fixed the sensor. Later I will remove the wires in the corrugation.
And the last check. 14°C everything works. It remains to remove the wires.
Installed the overlay.
