Serial models of the UAZ Patriot car are equipped with digital coolant temperature sensors (hereinafter referred to as DTOZH). The metering device is designed to track the "grade" of antifreeze, transfer data to a computer electronic control unit.
Based on the received data, the ECU displays information on the dashboard. The driver reacts to the signals of the instrument panel, decides on the advisability of further operation of the technical means.
Due to various circumstances, sensors periodically fail. Since the design is non-separable, the entire device must be replaced. Installing a new DTOZH yourself is not difficult at all, but follow the recommendations in the instruction manual. Breaking the rules is prohibited.
What temperature sensors are installed on the UAZ Patriot
As in other car brands, DTOZH is preinstalled on the UAZ Patriot. As for the outdoor air temperature sensor (hereinafter referred to as DVTV), the device is installed only on the Style, Privilege, Comfort, Limited configurations.
In Classic and Maximum, DVTV devices are not installed. The owner of the technical tool can assemble it himself, having previously bought the equipment in a car shop, on the car market or on the Internet.
The quality composition of the fuel mixture depends on the accuracy of the DTOZH readings. The service life of the sensor is unlimited, except for mechanical damage, short circuit in the circuit.
Location: The standard installation location is outside the thermostat housing. The base is screwed into the thermostat housing. Two power contacts are connected to the upper part for power supply from the on-board network.
A fusible element is installed inside the DTOZH base. As soon as the degree of antifreeze reaches "90", the contacts close, the on-board computer reports an error.
Also, the driver decides on the advisability of an emergency stop of the car, carrying out maintenance work, calling a tow truck.

To open access to the dosing device, you must first remove the polymer cover. The sensor is attached to the metal frame with a screw.
The shape of the DVTV is conical with two contacts at the back. The fuse in the mounting block No. 15 is responsible for the operation of the DVTV. The absence of temperature readings on the dashboard is the first sign of a malfunction.
How to independently replace temperature sensors on a UAZ Patriot car
Preparatory stage:
- Open-end wrench to "19";
- Rags;
- Additional lighting as needed;
- New "measuring device".
Step-by-step instructions for self-replacing the sensor:
- We install UAZ Patriot along the perimeter of the repair site;
- We turn off the engine, open the hood;
- We block the rear row of wheels with blocks, tighten the handbrake;
- We remove the terminals from the DTOZH, unscrew the sensor with the key;
- We replace the device with a new one, fasten it, put the power terminals back.
Turn on the ignition, check the operability of the sensor. Top up the missing amount of antifreeze as needed.

Replacement algorithm:
- UAZ Patriot is installed on a flat area, visible from the canal. For safety reasons, apply the parking brake;
- Open the hood, remove the battery power terminals. This is necessary in order to avoid a short circuit in the circuit during operation;
- On the left, we unscrew the plastic cover, we provide unhindered access to the meter;
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the DVTV, remove the limit switches;
- We install a new one instead of the standard sensor, put the terminals back;
