A tire pressure sensor is a pretty practical accessory, but according to the technicians of manufacturers who offer it as an option on their bikes (e.g. BMW, Triumph), it is especially useful in the event of a sudden drop in pressure during a puncture. especially. Therefore, it is advisable to regularly check the pressure in cold tires using a working pressure gauge.
Thus, additional pressure sensors - or those offered by some accessory manufacturers - are primarily an "alarm system". But, like all practical accessories, we become attached to it. And, unfortunately, some reviews talk about failures when changing tires. So the owner of the BMW K 1300 GT challenged us. He went to a dedicated assembly center after a puncture and a clumsy technician damaged the TPM pressure sensor located inside the rim, rendering it inoperative and a key warning popped up on the dashboard.
Play fair, the brand manager has taken care of replacing the sensor, however on BMW rims it is comparatively little exposed. The Triumph Speed Triple R can also be fitted with this accessory and requires careful valve disassembly. If you have a motorcycle equipped in this way, be sure to notify the tire shop.
