It fixes the pressure and in case of deviation from the norm notifies the driver (the light on the panel lights up).

The principle of operation of the device is not complicated. One of the characteristics of all controllers is that they convert one form of energy into another. For example, in order for him to be able to convert mechanical action, a converter of this energy into an electrical signal is built into his body. Mechanical effects are reflected in the state of the metal membrane of the sensor. The resistors are located in the membrane itself, the resistance of which varies. As a result, the converter “starts”, which transmits an electrical signal through the wires.

In older cars, there were simpler sensors, without electrical converters. But the principle of their action was similar: the membrane acts, as a result of which the device gives readings. With deformations, the membrane begins to put pressure on the rod, which is responsible for compressing the fluid in the lubrication circuit (tube). On the other side of the tube is the same dipstick, and when the oil presses on it, it raises or lowers the pressure gauge needle. On the old-style boards, it looked like this: the arrow goes up, which means that the pressure is growing, it goes down - it falls.

• Check the oil level, it should be normal (even if the indicator is still on).
• Warm up the engine, then turn it off.
• Remove the sensor and install a pressure gauge.
• In the place where the controller was, we screw in the pressure gauge adapter.
• Connect device ground to vehicle ground.
• The control LED is connected to the positive pole of the battery and one of the sensor contacts (spare cables are useful).
• Start the engine and gently depress the accelerator pedal while increasing speed.
• If the controller is in operation, when the pressure indicator shows between 1,2 and 1,6 bar, the indicator on the control panel goes out. If not, then there is another reason.
• The engine spins up to 2000 rpm. If there are not even two strips on the device, and the engine has warmed up to +80 degrees, then this indicates wear on the crankshaft bearings. When the pressure exceeds 2 bar, this is not a problem.
• The account continues to grow. The pressure level must be less than 7 bar. If the number is higher, the bypass valve is faulty.

It happens that the light continues to burn even after replacing the sensor and valve, then a complete diagnosis will not be superfluous.

How to replace DDM

The process of replacing the oil level sensor is not complicated, it does not require special knowledge. As tools, you will need a 21 mm open end wrench. Points:

• The front trim has been removed from the engine.
• The cover is removed from the controller itself, it is different, the power is turned off.
• The device is unscrewed from the block head with an open-end wrench.
• Installing a new part is carried out in the reverse order. The controller is twisted, the wiring is connected and the motor is checked how it works.

The aluminum o-ring will also be removed along with the sensor. No matter how new it is, it is better to replace it with a new one. And when connecting an electrical plug, they check the condition of the wire contacts, they may need to be cleaned.
