Tire pressure sensors Lexus RX200t (RX300), RX350, RX450h

Theme options

I want to put winter tires on regular wheels and leave it like that, but I plan to order new wheels for the summer.

To my dismay, we can't turn off the tire pressure monitoring system, so you also have to buy new tire pressure sensors, which are quite expensive. The question is, how to register these sensors so that the machine sees them?

I found instructions for initializing pressure sensors in the manual:

  1. Set the correct pressure and turn on the ignition.
  2. In the monitor menu, which is located on the instrument panel, select the settings item (“gear”)
  3. We find the TMPS item and hold down the Enter button (which is with a dot).
  4. The low tire pressure warning light (yellow exclamation mark in brackets) will flash three times.
  5. After that, we drive the car at a speed of 40 km / h for 10-30 minutes until the screen of pressure of all wheels appears.

That's all? It's just that there is a note next to it that it is necessary to initialize the pressure sensors in cases where: the tire pressure has changed or the wheels have been rearranged. I didn’t really understand about the rearrangement of wheels: do you mean the rearrangement of wheels in places or new wheels with new sensors?

It is embarrassing that the term pressure sensor log is mentioned separately, but there is practically nothing about it. Is it initialization or something else? If not, how do you register them yourself?

Checking the condition of tires and their inflation pressure, wheel rotation / Lexus RX300

Checking the condition of the tires and the pressure in them, rearranging the wheels

With a sporty driving style, it is recommended to increase the tire pressure by 0,3 atm. When increasing the pressure, the base value for the various load conditions must be taken into account.

Winter tires typically have 0,2 atm higher pressure than summer tires. It is necessary to take into account the recommendations of winter tire manufacturers, and also remember that these tires have a speed limit.

Regularly checking the condition of your tires will help you avoid the hassle of stopping on the road due to a puncture. In addition, these checks provide valuable information about possible steering and suspension problems before serious damage occurs.

Tires can be equipped with integrated tread wear indicator strips that become visible when the tread depth drops to 1,6 mm. When the tire indicator appears, the tires are considered worn. In most cases, it is recommended to replace tires with a tread depth of less than 2 mm. Tread depth can also be determined using a simple and inexpensive tool known as a tread depth gauge.

Examples and possible causes of tire wear

Pay attention to any unusual track wear. Tread defects such as cavities, bulges, flattening and more wear on one side are indicative of wheel misalignment and/or balance. If you find any of the listed defects, you should contact the tire service for repair.

Execution order

  1. Carefully inspect tires for cuts, punctures, and stuck nails or buttons. Sometimes, after a tire is punctured with a nail, it holds pressure for a while or drops very slowly. If "slow descent" is suspected, first check the tire inflation nozzle setting. Then inspect the tread for foreign objects stuck in it or previously sealed punctures, from which air began to flow again. You can check for a puncture by moistening the suspicious area with soapy water. If there is a puncture, the solution will begin to bubble. If the puncture is not too big, the tire can usually be repaired at any tire shop.
  2. Carefully inspect the inner sidewalls of the tires for evidence of brake fluid leaks. In your case, immediately check the brake system.
  3. Maintaining the correct tire pressure increases tire life, helps save fuel and improves overall driving comfort. A pressure gauge is required to check the pressure.
  4. Always check tire pressure when tires are cold (i.e. before riding). If you check the pressure in warm or hot tires, this will cause the pressure gauge to read too high due to the thermal expansion of the tires. In this case, please do not release pressure, because after the tire cools down, it will be lower than normal.
  5. To check tire pressure, remove the protective cap from the fitting, then firmly press the pressure gauge fitting to the inflation valve and read the readings on the device; should be 2,0 atm. Be sure to replace the protective cap to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the nipple. Check the pressure in all tires, including the spare, and inflate them if necessary.

After every 12 km of run, it is recommended to rearrange the wheels to even out tire wear. When using radial tires, install them according to the direction of rotation.
