Of course, we have been dealing with all these problems since the beginning of the history of the automotive industry. We charge the batteries, take them home, lubricate the gaskets with petroleum jelly. In a word, we boldly meet adversity and winter. What if it made your life easier?

Finally, we have several solutions at our disposal that will significantly increase the likelihood of starting a car in cold weather. One of them is Defa. Defa is a comprehensive system that allows you to heat the engine and interior of the car. In addition, we can use it to charge the battery. All this is within our power for 50% of the cost of a fuel-powered parking heater. In the case of Defa, 230V mains power is required. Before we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this solution, let's see how this system works.

The basic element is a heater that allows you to heat the liquid in the engine cooling system, which means the entire engine and the oil in it. Heaters can be mounted in three ways. The first is the installation of a heater in the engine block in place of the so-called broccoli, i.e. technological hole plugs. The second is to connect the heater to the cable connecting the engine to the heater. The third is a contact heater that heats up the oil pan.

These three solutions make it possible to install heaters on approximately three thousand different engines. What do heaters give us? Even in the most severe frost, they allow you to maintain the engine temperature up to 50 degrees Celsius above the ambient temperature. What are the benefits? Runs easy, of course. Thanks to this, we extend the life of our engine. But that's not all. In this way, we also reduce fuel consumption in the first kilometers. The derivative of all these phenomena is the reduction of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, and hence the extension of the service life of the catalyst.

Another element is an electric heater. This allows you to heat the interior of the car regardless of the engine. It has a small size and power from 1350W to 2000W. Big power can mean big sizes. It's different. The heater has a small size, which allows you to install it in any car. Thanks to his work, we get into a warm interior, and the car windows are cleared of snow and ice. No problem with snow removal and window cleaning. Of course, in the event of a very heavy rain, you will not be able to melt everything, but in any case, it will be much easier for us to remove the snow.

The last element of the system is the charger. It also has a small size, so it can be installed without problems, for example, in the engine compartment. It is equipped with an electronic circuit that ensures the perfect condition of our battery. This ensures that the battery is always fully charged and ready to start the engine. Its service life is greatly increased. Due to the full charge, when starting the engine, there are no large voltage drops, which means that there is no sulfation of the plates.

All three elements are controlled by one programmer. It comes in several variants. As an adjustable clock based on an alarm clock, as a module controlled by a remote control. Such a variety of options allows us to customize the system depending on our needs. If we only want to heat the engine, then we install the heater only with wires. If we want to take care of the condition of our battery or additionally heat the interior of the car, we install other elements. There are three options.

First: engine heating (heater with wires), second: engine and interior heating (1350W), or the third option, i.e. engine, interior and battery heating (3 options: 1400W, 2000W or 1350W with remote control). Thanks to this, we can also recharge the battery. Someone may say that you can connect a rectifier. I agree, but how much more to do with it. Here we just need to connect the power cord and that's it. Of course, each element can be turned on and off manually. All system components are overload protected. Defa works independently of the car's electrical system, and there is no fear of overheating of the engine or passenger compartment. The system is equipped with both power protection and temperature sensors, which allows you to smoothly change the system load.

Of course, Def is not without limitations. The whole system will not work without electricity. We must have a free socket next to the car. In Scandinavian conditions, where Defa is very popular, this is not a problem. In front of shops, schools and offices, we have racks that allow you to connect the power cord. Maybe something will work out for us in this matter. In Polish conditions, Defa works best if we live in a detached house or a house with a terrace. Why? After all, when we build a house, we always think about the garage. However, very often a garage is not available because there are bikes, a lawn mower, sports equipment and all other things that may come in handy in the future. It also happens that we have order in the garage, and there is only one parking space. This means that the second car is open to the public and the installation of such a device in it will greatly facilitate its operation.

Of course, even when living in an apartment building, we sometimes have the opportunity to power the car. Many of us might think that such restrictions disqualify Defa in Polish conditions and that it might be worth adding double the amount to the purchase price and installing an independent internal combustion heating system.

It's not so easy. We must remember that combustion heating also requires voltage to work. Moreover, it receives them from the accumulator. What to do if the frost is so severe, and the battery is in such bad condition that, unfortunately, the whole system will not work? This is where Defa shows his advantage. It not only does not consume energy from the battery, but also recharges it. This is important because we often drive short distances in urban areas and if the parking heater is used frequently, the battery will not last long.

As you can see, this system is ideal for many cars and not only. Remember that Defa can also be used in trucks, construction and agricultural vehicles. Contrary to appearances, the need for mains power is not so burdensome, if we take into account the benefits that it brings us, especially since the socket installed in the car is very well designed, small in size and does not disfigure the car with its appearance. .
