Earth Day 2021: Free Electric Vehicle Charging Across the US Until This Friday

If you live in the United States and own an electric vehicle, you can best celebrate Earth Day with free charging at all Electrify America stations.

Earth Day celebrations in the United States are not limited to just today, but will continue until tomorrow, April 23, after Electrify America announced that it has made its stations available for free charging nationwide. This initiative benefits all drivers who own an electric car, as they will not have to pay anything to use this service. .

With 589 stations distributed across the country, this Volkswagen subsidiary is making a network of 2.500 chargers available to all its users, which promises to increase by 800 new outlets by the end of this year. These charging points are often found in shopping mall parking lots and in the parking lots of large chain stores such as Walmart, with which Electrify America has service agreements.

The number of these chargers is expected to continue to grow in the coming years due to recent announcements by the President and much cleaner forms of energy that are helping to counteract the effects of climate change around the world.

Biden said one of the first steps to accomplish this herculean task will be to expand that network of service stations with about 500.000 new charging points by the year his administration hopes to catch up with China. which is still a leader in the production and sale of electric vehicles. Added to this will be the electrification of some vehicles, such as school buses, and the production of many others by American companies such as Thomas Built Buses and Proterra.

Electrify America was introduced in January 2017 and launched a year later with its first station in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Its main function is to provide sources of electrical energy and to promote the use of electric vehicles as a way to compensate for the damage caused by Volkswagen in the past, since this company really came into being as a result of actions taken by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The US agency, the body that accused Volkswagen in 2015 of modifying its cars to hide the true amount of emissions they put out into the atmosphere.
