Fisker Ocean 2022 Details: Electric SUV Targets Tesla Model Y With Multiple Ownership Options

Fisker Ocean is ready to make a splash in the electric vehicle segment.

Fisker has released more information about its first all-electric midsize Ocean SUV, which is now available for purchase along with the previously announced flexible leasing option, but only if you get the hang of it quickly.

The full purchase option starts at $37,499 (AU$54,051) in the United States, but will only be offered on "a limited number of vehicles," Fisker said.

It is unclear if the traditional ownership model will be available alongside flexible leasing - $379 (AU$546) per month in the US with a $2999 (AU$4322) deposit and no fixed-term contract (but limited to 30,000 miles per year) - at Australia, where Fisker plans to launch Ocean and a double cab on the same platform in 2022.

Either way, production of the Ocean will begin late next year, with deliveries starting in 2022.

Fisker says it expects to build more than a million vehicles in the first five years through its manufacturing facilities in the US, Europe and China.

The Ocean can currently be reserved through the Fisker smartphone app for $250 ($360).

As reported, the Ocean has an 80kWh lithium-ion battery that provides 402-483km of range and can be charged through the SUV's full-size solar roof, which Fisker says provides 1609km of additional charging per year.

Fisker claims the Ocean will do a 100-2.9 mph like the Tesla Model X, rivaling it in XNUMX seconds, despite being positioned as a rival to the soon-to-be-launched smaller Model Y.

Two- and all-wheel drive modifications will be available.

Inside, a large touchscreen is centrally located and a digital instrument cluster sits in front of the driver next to a head-up display that can display lyrics while a song is playing - a necessary feature if you're using Ocean's karaoke mode.
