Disks. How can you take good care of them?

Disks. How can you take good care of them? Rims do more than just make your car look better. First of all, they contribute to the cooling of the brake system, and also have a positive effect on driving dynamics. To prevent brake dust from depositing on the discs and to keep their visual properties longer, it is worth taking care of these elements regularly.

Discs are the element of our car that gets dirty the fastest. They are exposed to many contaminants such as road salt, sand, brake pad dust, tar and soot. Such impurities can be very unpleasant. Unfortunately, long-term neglect often ends in the need to repair or even replace rims with new ones.

Our discs are not only adversely affected by weather conditions and related factors. Let's also be careful about the chemicals used in automatic car washes. Acid-based cleaners can permanently damage alloy wheels. – Make sure the discs are cool before washing, as overheated discs can warp. In this way, we will also avoid damage to the transparent coating on the rims. In addition, evaporating chemicals can leave stains, says Mariusz Melka, Organika SA Quality Board Representative.

A way to protect discs and thus avoid unnecessary expense is to coat them with wax. New discs are very susceptible to dirt and damage. If we neglect them from the very beginning, the accumulated dirt will bite into them and cause dirt that is difficult to remove. The waxing process should be carried out before installing new rims on the car. Thanks to this, we will effectively prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt and make it easier to clean the rims in the future. Waxing should be carried out periodically, for example, once every 2 months, before a thorough washing and drying of alloy wheels. Conservation will also have a very positive effect on the visual effect.

Another way to prevent damage to the rim in time is to wash it with appropriate products, as well as use sponges and soft rags. Thanks to this, we will avoid scratching the paint and therefore further damage. Particular care should be taken when washing rims if they already have pockets of corrosion.

Particular attention should be paid to caring for rims in winter. Road spreaders are often very strong and aggressive, which also has a negative effect on our rims.

Regular washing is the basis of disc care. To maximize their service life, you should turn to special training. Before using them, wash off the dirt from the discs with a jet of water, which will allow us to avoid being scratched by sand and other contaminants. Then apply the preparation and wait for the appropriate time. Use a soft sponge to remove dirt and rinse discs with water. Additionally, you can polish them with a dry cloth and apply wax. Despite the general rules, do not forget to use the products according to the recommendations on the label.
