Diesel oil m10dm. Tolerances and characteristics

Features

The technical characteristics of motor oils are prescribed in GOST 17479.1-2015. Also, in addition to the requirements of the state standard, some non-investigated quantities are indicated separately by the manufacturer of the lubricant.

There are few characteristics significant for the buyer that determine the applicability of lubricants in a particular engine.

  1. Oil accessory. In the domestic classification, the oil belongs to the first letter of the marking. In this case, it is "M", which means "motor". M10Dm is usually produced from a mixture of distillate and residual components of low-sulfur oils.
  2. Kinematic viscosity at operating temperature. Traditionally, the operating temperature is 100°C. Viscosity is not written directly, but is encoded in the numerical index following the first letter. For engine oil M10Dm, this index, respectively, is 10. According to the table from the standard, the viscosity of the oil in question should be in the range from 9,3 to 11,5 cSt inclusive. In terms of viscosity, this oil complies with the SAE J300 30 standard. Just like the other common M10G2k engine oil.

Diesel oil m10dm. Tolerances and characteristics

  1. Oil group. This is a kind of American API classification, only with a slightly different gradation. Class "D" roughly corresponds to the CD / SF API standard. That is, the oil is quite simple and cannot be used in modern direct injection engines. Its scope is simple gasoline engines without a catalyst and a turbine, as well as forced loaded diesel engines with turbines, but without particulate filters.
  2. Ash content of oil. It is indicated separately by the index "m" at the end of the designation according to GOST. M10Dm engine oil is low-ash, which has a positive effect on engine cleanliness and causes a low intensity of the formation of solid ash components (soot).
  3. Additive package. The simplest composition of calcium, zinc and phosphorus additives was used. The oil has medium detergent and extreme pressure properties.

Depending on the manufacturer, several currently significant characteristics are added to the standard indicators of M10Dm motor oils.

  • Viscosity index. Shows how stable the oil is in terms of viscosity with temperature changes. For M10Dm oils, the average viscosity index ranges from 90-100 units. This is a low figure for modern lubricants.
  • Flash point. When tested in an open crucible, depending on the manufacturer, the oil flashes when heated to 220-225°C. Good resistance to ignition, which leads to low oil consumption for waste.
  • Freezing temperature. Most manufacturers regulate the guaranteed threshold for pumping through the system and safe cranking at -18 ° C.
  • Alkaline number. It determines to a greater extent the washing and dispersing abilities of the lubricant, that is, how well the oil copes with sludge deposits. M-10Dm oils are characterized by a rather high base number, depending on the brand, which is about 8 mgKOH / g. Approximately the same indicators are found in other common oils: M-8G2k and M-8Dm.

Based on the combination of characteristics, we can say that the oil in question has excellent potential when used in simple engines. It is suitable for mining trucks, excavators, bulldozers, tractors with forced water or air-cooled engines, as well as for passenger cars and trucks with gasoline engines with derated engines without a turbine and exhaust gas purification systems.

Price and market availability

Prices for M10Dm engine oil in the Russian market are quite different depending on the manufacturer and distributor. We list several manufacturers of M10Dm and analyze their prices.

  1. Rosneft M10Dm. A 4-liter canister will cost about 300-320 rubles. That is, the price of 1 liter is about 70-80 rubles. Sold in a barrel version, for bottling.
  2. Gazpromneft M10Dm. More expensive option. Depending on the volume, the price varies from 90 to 120 rubles per 1 liter. Cheapest to buy in a barrel version. An ordinary 5-liter canister will cost 600-650 rubles. That is about 120 rubles per liter.
  3. Lukoil M10Dm. It costs about the same as oil from Gazpromneft. Barrel will be released from 90 rubles per liter. In canisters, the cost reaches 130 rubles per 1 liter.

There are also many offers of brandless oil on the market, which is sold only with the GOST designation M10Dm. In some cases, it does not meet the standard. Therefore, you can purchase an impersonal lubricant from a barrel only from a trusted seller.
