Nissan TD27T - 100 hp turbocharged diesel engine. It was installed on Nissan Caravan Datsun and other models.

Service

1. Engine oil - is replaced after 10 thousand kilometers or after 6 months if the car has not driven that much. 2. Oil filter - Always change with oil.

4. Ethylene glycol-based antifreeze - the first time it needs to be replaced after 80000 km, then every 60000 km.
5. The air filter requires cleaning after 20 thousand kilometers or 12 years of car operation. After another 20 thousand km. it needs to be replaced.
6. The intake valve clearances are checked and adjusted every 20 thousand km.
7. The fuel filter is replaced after 40 thousand km.
8. Injectors - require checking if there is a decrease in engine power, and the exhaust turns black. Atypical engine noise is also a reason to check the pressure and spray pattern of the fuel injectors.

These recommendations are relevant for engines with mileage less than 30000 km. Given that the Nissan TD27T is an old engine, all of the above operations should be performed more frequently.

Oil

In engines used at outside temperatures above -20 C, Nissan recommends filling in oil with a viscosity of 10W-40. If a warm climate prevails in the region, then the optimal viscosity is 20W-40 and 20W-50. 5W-20 oil can only be used on internal combustion engines without a turbocharger, that is, it cannot be used on TD27T.

Malfunctions

The Nissan TD27T engine itself is reliable - it has a long service life, is easy to maintain and repair. There are no serious design flaws, but problems remain. The weak point of the motor is the cylinder head. The network has reviews from owners about a drop in compression due to severe wear of the valve chamfers. The cause of rapid wear is malfunctions in the fuel system, engine overheating and long-term operation without the required maintenance.

Jamming on one of the balancing shafts (usually on the top) is not excluded - it occurs due to lack of lubrication. In this case, the engine is disassembled and the bushings and seats are repaired.

Standard problems common to all internal combustion engines are also present:

1. Oil burnout for various reasons, often due to lubricant entering the combustion chambers. This problem occurs on the outdated TD27T ICEs, and today they all are.
2. Swimming speed - most often means a malfunctioning crankshaft position sensor.
3. Problems with the EGR valve - they are common to all engines on which this same valve is installed. Due to poor-quality fuel or oil getting into the combustion chambers, this sensor “overgrows” with soot, and its stem becomes stationary. As a result, the fuel-air mixture is supplied to the cylinders in the wrong proportion, which entails floating speed, detonation, and loss of power. The solution is simple - cleaning the EGR valve from soot. Although this maintenance operation is not indicated in the technical documentation, any master at the service station will recommend doing this. The operation is simple and inexpensive. On many cars, this valve is simply turned off - a metal plate is installed on it and the ECU is flashed so that error code 0808 does not appear on the dashboard.

Timely maintenance and performance of simple operations, which are indicated above, will ensure a high engine resource - it will be able to drive 300 thousand kilometers without major repairs, and then - as lucky. However, this does not mean that he will necessarily “run” so much. On automotive forums, there are owners of cars with these engines with a mileage of 500-600 thousand kilometers, which allows us to conclude that it is exceptionally reliable.
