A series of 6-cylinder V-shaped diesel engines Audi EA896 was produced from 2003 to 2013 and existed in two working volumes 2.7 TDI and 3.0 TDI.

The V6 range of Audi EA896 2.7 and 3.0 TDI diesel engines was produced from 2003 to 2013 and was installed on a number of popular concern models with a longitudinal engine. At the end of 2007, the power units were upgraded, they are distinguished by the suffix EVO or G2.

Diesel engines Audi EA896 3.0 TDI

In 2003, the latest 8 TDI diesel engines debuted on the Audi A3 model in the back of the D3.0. The new units had practically nothing in common with the 2.5-liter predecessors. The Bosch VP44 electronically controlled high-pressure fuel pump gave way to the Common Rail system with piezo injectors, instead of the timing belt, there is a complex system consisting of four chains with tensioners at once, the intake manifold was equipped with servo dampers, one for each cylinder.

Otherwise, these are all the same V6 engines with a cast-iron block and a pair of aluminum heads, in which there are two camshafts that control 24 valves with hydraulic compensators.

The line includes a huge number of modifications, which are divided into generations G1 and G2:

In addition to the Volkswagen and Audi models, such an internal combustion engine was installed on the Porsche Cayenne under the symbol M05.9E.

Diesel engines Audi EA896 2.7 TDI

From 2004 to 2011, a smaller version of the 3.0-liter diesel engines was produced, which differed only in a shortened piston stroke, and, well, in power characteristics.

Since 2010, these diesel engines have slowly begun to give way to the new EA897 series engines.
