Should the air conditioner run in winter

But should the air conditioner work even at low temperatures? The answer is yes. Air conditioning together with ventilation "protects the interior". First, it dries the air and thus becomes a powerful weapon against misted glass.

It makes sense to turn on the air conditioner due to its long-term operation. Since the coolant also has a lubricating function during system operation, the moving parts and seals are lubricated, which reduces the risk of loss of refrigerant.

Regular operation of the air conditioner also reduces the risk of spreading fungi and bacteria from leaves, snow and moisture. To reduce the risk of microbial accumulation, the cooling function must be disabled, but the fan must continue to run. Thus, moisture is blown out of the system.

Switching on air conditioning in autumn and winter is definitely not recommended. At temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, the air conditioner cannot be turned on. Otherwise, the water in it may freeze and cause damage. As a rule, modern cars have a built-in temperature sensor that does not allow switching on at subzero temperatures. On older models, the driver must be careful not to use the air conditioner.
