From October 1, on the roads, in addition to the police and customs officers, you can meet traffic police officers. They are wearing green uniforms and white caps. They have the right to bear arms.

Inspectors stopping and controlling vehicles on the road must be in close proximity to the marked official vehicle and must be in uniform. For greater visibility, they will be wearing yellow warning vests with the inscription "Road and Transport Inspectorate".

The Inspectorate was created as a formation specializing in monitoring compliance with the rules of domestic and international road transport. This also applies to non-commercial vehicles.

Only cars designed to carry up to 9 people, including the driver (provided that this is a non-commercial vehicle) and cars with a permitted gross weight of up to 3,5 tons, are not subject to inspection by inspectors.

All other vehicles may be subject to a more thorough inspection than a traffic inspection. Inspectors can check not only driver and vehicle documents, but also all shipping documents.

This includes, among other things, monitoring compliance with the conditions for transport. Therefore, inspectors control, among other things, the working hours of drivers, compliance with the conditions for the transport of animals and the transport of dangerous goods, perishable food products and waste.

Employees of the traffic inspectorate performing their official duties have the right to enter the vehicle, inspect documents, measuring and control devices in the vehicle, and can also check the mass, axle load and dimensions of vehicles.

Road inspectors are checked both by drivers (engaged in commercial and non-commercial vehicles) and entrepreneurs engaged in such economic activities.

It is planned to create a "central register of violations" where data and information about entrepreneurs and drivers and their violations will be collected. Information will be received there from inspections from all over Poland, which will make it possible to identify violators of the rules. Penalties for violation of the provisions set out in the law are PLN 15.
