In our road test, we tested the DS5 BlueHDi 180 EAT6 with Sport Chic trim. During our tests, the car proved to be very comfortable and pleasant to drive, especially at medium distances. Consumption of turbodiesel 2.0 180 HP good too.

The DS5 is a car that loves to be noticed, it has a chic and futuristic look that draws attention like some others. Its strengths are comfort and strong personality, with a focus on driving pleasure and technological accessories.

In the D-segment - the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series, so to speak - there has never been a car as bold as the DS5: its exotic line expresses a unique combination of dynamism and sportiness, a hybrid sports minivan and station wagon.

The design remains true to the interiors, which boast excellent finishes and many technological accessories such as a head-up display, a rearview camera with parking sensors, adjustable seats and a panoramic sunroof that opens in three separate sections.

The DS5's sizable size and poor visibility (especially at the rear) certainly doesn't make it the best car for finding tight parking spaces or slipping into city traffic jams. However session high and parking sensors - both front and rear - make the car more convenient. Also good trunk 468 liters, which becomes 1288 with the seats folded.

Outside the city

The out-of-town DS5 proved to be more agile than we expected, showing some respectable dynamic qualities. The steering is lively in hand, replicates all the imperfections of the asphalt and gives good feedback, even if it is not very straightforward. IN shock absorbers instead, they manage the weight of the vehicle well and hold the roll very well. Pirelli Pilot Exalto 235/45 tires on 18 rims provide excellent traction and good cornering response, but partly compromise comfort.

The car still turns out very stable even in sporty driving, and the engine has enough power and torque to fire the DS5 every time you dig in.

Il Automatic transmission with a six-speed variator of torque, it works very well, not as fast as the dual clutch, but responds quickly enough in both manual and automatic modes.

The DS5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9,9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 km / h. The claimed combined consumption is 4,3 l / 100 km.

On the highway, the flagship DS drives without difficulty and easily drives kilometers: sound insulation is good, rustle is minimal. The electrically adjustable seats are well padded and wrap-around, and in the Sport Chic version they also have a massage function.

Cruise control with speed limiter is also standard.

Life on board

The DS5 cab is a pleasure to be in: the panoramic roof, divided into three separate sections, makes the cabin more airy and bright by reflecting light on shiny plastics and metal surfaces.

Design dashboard reflects an appearance, futuristic and sculptural, almost like a spaceship. System Commands infotainment and the air conditioner is very well thought out: easy to use and readily available; the touchscreen could be larger, especially given the size of the dashboard. Aviation-style metal-trimmed window and roof buttons are beautiful and futuristic too.

The dashboard is beautiful too, with a fully digital tachometer and speedometer.

DS5 has several compartments for items very roomy, even if you feel a lack of space in the central tunnel to accommodate your phone. There is no shortage of "standard" aux and USB connectors.

Price and costs

The DS5 2.0 BlueHDi 180 S&S EAT6 Sport Chic has a price the price list is 41.450 XNUMX euros, which calls into question the premium segment of segment D. The standard equipment is very rich, the materials are exquisite, the finishes are of an excellent level, but the quality is paid dearly.

On the other hand, the 2.0 turbodiesel is not very thirsty and manages to drive 16 km with an effective liter without any problems in urban and rural mode.
