Two easy ways to change a wheel yourself without a jack

A punctured wheel is a fairly common situation if your car has a balloon, spare tire, compressor and jack in the trunk. But what if for some reason you don't have a jack? There is an exit. And not even one.

Where can you find such a Hulk who would hold the car while you change the damaged wheel? Yes, and the drivers now went inattentive and shy - out of ten passing cars, all ten will pass by. Their owners will pretend not to notice how you actively signaled, pleading for help. And if so, we use the set that is.

First you need to hang out a punctured wheel. This can be done in two ways: by diagonal hanging - when one of the wheels is hung diagonally when driving a hillock, or, if there are no hillocks nearby, using a compressor and several bricks (stones, boards). And if with the first method everything is more or less clear, then the second will require more virtuosity and ingenuity from you.

So, let's say you didn't want to, but chose method #2. Having previously loosened the bolts securing the wheel, with the help of a compressor, you need to inflate the tire, and then thoroughly pump it over. This is not difficult to do, unless, of course, the tire has a hole the size of a big toe or a huge cut in the tire.

It is necessary to pump to a reasonable pressure so that the wheel does not burst, but lifts its side of the car. Then, use the bricks, boards or stones found nearby or in the trunk and place them under the suspension arm. As soon as your makeshift jack rests on the lever, lower the punctured wheel.

And do not forget to make sure that the car confidently "sat" on the structure you built. Next, unscrew the bolts and remove the damaged wheel. But, you don’t breathe a sigh of relief, because installing a spare wheel will require all your skill.

To install a spare tire, you need to bleed air from it. In this case, it will become softer and more plastic. Then, gently flattening the tire, try to put the wheel back in place. If everything worked out, then fix the wheel with bolts. Pump up again. Remove the makeshift props, and then deflate the wheel again to working pressure and tighten the mounting bolts already tightly.

Remember, this method of replacing a punctured wheel can be dangerous. Therefore, we recommend that you often look into the trunk and check the complete set of the service kit of your car.
