Engine 1VD-FTV
Content
In 2007, the first 8VD-FTV turbodiesel V1 engine was produced by Toyota for the Land Cruiser. They were released only for some countries. The 1VD-FTV engine is one of the first V8 powertrains produced by Toyota. Gasoline engines won their popularity in South Africa, while Australia preferred mainly diesel V8s.
Innovations in modern models
In the current Land Cruiser model, Toyota uses a new engine. The old and proven "six" (1HD-FTE) was replaced by a new and perfect "eight" (1VD-FTV). Although the old and proven 1HD-FTE had almost the same power, the new 1VD-FTV certainly had incredibly great potential. However, Toyota was in no hurry to reveal all the available features of the new engine. And in 2008, the DIM Chip LAB team began work on increasing the power of the new power unit. Even then, the result obtained in increasing engine power inspired and encouraged the developers of Toyota. DIM Chip LAB did not stop there and increased the power and torque of the 1VD-FTV engine by several times. The new DIM Chip program for the optimization block allows the Land Cruiser 200 to increase its torque by 200 additional Nm, and increase peak power by 120 horsepower. So having achieved such results, it was found that in the entire range of engine speeds, there is an increase in power indicators.

The main advantages of the Toyota 1VD-FTV engine
- Excellent dynamics of the unit;
- Optimal fuel consumption (at 70-80 km / h, fuel consumption per hundred kilometers is about 8-9 liters, and at 110-130 km / h, the tachometer readings are 3000-3500 rpm and, accordingly, fuel consumption increases by a hundred kilometers, about 16-17 litres.);
- Due to the good torque of the engine, the vehicle's off-road capability, snowdrifts and impassable roads increases;
- With timely maintenance, oil change and various filters that need to be changed on time, the engine will work for a long time and without any problems.
The main disadvantages of the Toyota 1VD-FTV engine
What should be noted from the shortcomings of the engine is that only good oil needs to be poured into it, and all lubricants must be of very high quality and composition. Due to the fact that the unit is equipped with numerous sensors that can give an error due to low-quality lubricants and combustible materials. Therefore, in order to avoid repair of the Toyota 1VD-FTV engine, service and monitor the correct operation of your car in a timely manner.
The Toyota 1VD-FTV engine is found in Toyota Land Cruiser 200s and some Lexus LX 570s.
