Engine 3SZ-VE
The 3SZ-VE motor is traditionally classified as short-stroke. It differs from many other engines of the so-called "third wave" in the first place by the presence of pressed valve seats and a special cast-iron block. This gives him certain advantages: firstly, not so high heat generation and easier operation. Although there are some drawbacks.

The piston stroke is almost 92 mm, which is noticeably longer than in previous versions. The cylinder diameter is 72 mm. For engines supplied to Europe, 95th gasoline is recommended, and 92nd is suitable for all others.
The presence of a cast iron block and the preservation of the traditional design make it easy to operate, as this is one of the few Toyota engines that can be completely repaired.
In many ways, design and other features are associated with specific types of vehicles on which these engines are installed. This includes inexpensive models that are often and widely used in urban environments. As a rule, this motor is mounted transversely, although there are some exceptions.
The timing drive is carried out by a Morse chain, which is also rare on Toyota engines. The disadvantages in this case include the lengthening of the entire chain and the use of two dampers. In addition, the motor is quite sensitive to the quality of the oil. At the same time, the durability increases, the noise level during operation decreases, and it becomes possible to transmit a large torque.

These engines are mainly installed on cars from Toyota and Daihatsu, as they are actually the main developers. It is installed mainly on "microcars" and small cars.
