The 1.6-liter Ford PNDA engine or 1.6 Duratec Ti VCT 123ps was produced from 2010 to 2019 and was installed on the third generation of the Focus model and the C-MAX compact MPV popular on our market. The power unit is known for the fact that for some time it was assembled at the concern's plant in Yelabuga.
The Duratec Ti-VCT range includes: UEJB, IQDB, HXDA, PNBA, SIDA and XTDA.

Since 2003, Duratec Sigma series power units have been equipped with Ti VCT phase shifters, and in 2007 the second generation of such internal combustion engines appeared, whose power increased from 115 to 125 hp. The PNDA engine debuted on the Focus 3 and the similar C-Max in 2010. By design, there is an aluminum block with cast-iron sleeves and an open cooling jacket, a 16-valve head without hydraulic compensators, phase regulators on two shafts and a timing belt.

Disadvantages, breakdowns and problems of the PNDA engine
This is a modern engine with an aluminum block and an open cooling jacket, and by 100 km the cylinders often go elliptical, and then a piston knock appears. There is usually no oil consumption, so many do not pay attention and drive like this.
On the motors of this series of the first years of production, phase regulators often knocked to 100 km, however, since 000, upgraded clutches have been installed that last much longer. Now the main problems are delivered by regularly flowing solenoid valves.
The weak points of this power unit also include a not very reliable gas pump, constantly breaking high-voltage wires and current crankshaft oil seals. And do not forget about the periodic adjustment of the valve clearance, there are no hydraulic lifters.
