Honda Stream engine

The Honda Stream is a compact minivan. In fact, it is a station wagon and a minivan at the same time. Rather, it refers to all-terrain wagons, but there is no unambiguous classification. Produced since 2000.

Externally, the car has an attractively swift design. Differs in high dynamism. The Honda Civic platform is used as the basis for the production of the car. There are three generations of cars.

The first generation was produced from 2000 to 2006. Cars were produced not only in Japan, but also in Russia. Regardless of the configuration, they have a minivan body. The engine capacity is 1,7 and 2 liters, and the power is from 125 to 158 horsepower.

The second generation of Stream was released in 2006. The exterior design of the cars has been redesigned. The changes also affected the cabin interior. In general, the driver and passengers received additional comfort. Technical parameters remained practically at the same level.

The third generation of cars received gasoline engines of 1,8 and 2 liters. The 1,8-liter engine (140 hp) was produced with a manual transmission for 5 gears and an automatic transmission also for 5 gears. A two-liter engine with a capacity of 150 hp. received a variator with 7 gears (tiptronic).

Salon

The maximum capacity of the Stream is five, six or seven people. The seven-seater model after restyling became a six-seater. In place of one of the passengers appeared a comfortable armrest. The interior is decorated in a minimalist style.

The interior pleases with a large number of boxes and shelves where you can put a useful little thing. Among the colors, gray and black predominate. The most common motors

One of the most common internal combustion engines on the Stream is R18A. It was installed on the 2nd generation of cars, up to 2014. Another popular 2nd generation engine is the R20A. No less popular is the K20A, which was installed on cars of the 1st generation. Also on the first generation car, the D17A engine is often found.

Cars with internal combustion engines R20A are in demand. Such vehicles have good handling (in the case of all-wheel drive), and also have moderately stiff suspension. A little embarrassing engine consumption in the winter. This figure can be 20 liters per 100 kilometers. With a quiet ride, the engine consumes an average of 15 liters. Streams with a power unit R18A (1,8 liters) have an aggressive modern exterior design. The engine pulls almost like at 2 liters. K20A and D17A

Vehicles with a K20A engine were produced from 2000 to 2006. Cars with a similar engine are in demand among couples. It is also often taken to travel by car with a trailer. K20A (2,0 L) is generally satisfactory.

When purchasing a used car, it is immediately recommended to replace the timing belt and roller. Also, problems may arise with the belt of the power steering / generator and air conditioning. As the mileage increases, it is necessary to replace the gasket of the candle wells and the valve cover, the camshaft and crankshaft oil seal.

The 17-liter D1,7A is not very popular among motorists. The fact is that in practice, engine power is not always enough. A car weighing 1,4 tons and loaded with 6 people moves with noticeable strain. Climbing uphill with a full cabin is possible only at a speed of at least 5000. The engine is not enough at low speeds, which is not observed on the two-liter K20A internal combustion engine.

K20A is slightly more economical than R18A. In summer, with the air conditioner on and the roof box, it consumes 10 liters per 100 km, which is quite good. With the exclusion of additional energy consumers, the consumption drops to 9 liters. In winter, consumption is 13 liters with preheating.

Contract engine

If it is impossible or unprofitable for Stream to overhaul, it is better to purchase a contract engine. The cost of motors per car is in the medium range. For example, contract R18A can be purchased for 40 thousand rubles. At the same time, a guarantee is provided for 30 days or 90 days when installed in the seller's service. A contract engine from Japan costs an average of 45 thousand rubles.
