The 1.6-liter 16-valve Hyundai G4LE engine has been produced in South Korea since 2016 and is installed on hybrid versions of such popular models as Ioniq, Niro and Kona. There are two versions: Hybrid with 1.56 KWh battery and Plug-in Hybrid with 8.9 or 12.9 KWh battery.
Kappa line: G3LB, G3LD, G3LE, G3LF, G4LA, G4LC, G4LD, G4LF and G4LG.

Disadvantages, breakdowns and problems of the G4LE internal combustion engine

Engines of the first years came under recall due to antifreeze getting on the EPCU board
Like all direct injection engines, this one suffers from carbon deposits on the intake valves.
Closer to 200 thousand kilometers, some owners had to replace the timing chain
