- L5 - 2,5 liters with a cylinder bore increased to 89 mm and a piston displacement of 100 mm.
Where is the engine number
The factory marking of the MZR LF engine, as on the L8, L3 models, is stamped on the cylinder head block. You can find the license plate on the left side of the engine in the direction of the vehicle, closer to the corner part in a plane parallel to the windshield.
Disadvantages and the ability to increase power
MZR LF - the motor is unpretentious, there are no special problems with its operation. There are few cons:
- increased oil consumption - manifests itself with a mileage of 200 thousand km;
- a decrease in the performance of a gas pump - detected when accelerating: the engine does not work at full power;
- thermostat resource - up to 100 thousand km;
- timing chain - stretches already at a run of 250 thousand km, although it should withstand 500.
The increase in power is possible in two directions - by the method of chip tuning and mechanical tuning. The first method allows you to increase the torque and crankshaft revolutions by about 10%, which will provide 160-165 hp. from. It is carried out by flashing (correcting) the control unit program in a tuning company. A greater effect is achieved by the reconstruction of the air intake system with the replacement of some parts. In this case, the power increases by 30-40% and reaches 200-210 hp.
