A series of diesel engines Mercedes OM 601 for 2.0 - 2.3 liters was assembled from 1983 to 2000 and was installed both on passenger models, such as W201, W202, and on commercial minibuses. In total, there were three atmospheric modifications of this unit and one with a turbocharger.
