The Mitsubishi 4g15 ICE engine is a reliable unit from Mitsubishi. The unit was designed and produced for the first time more than 20 years ago. It was installed until 2010 in the Lancer, until 2012 - in the Colt and other car models from the Japanese automaker. The characteristics of the engine made it possible to move comfortably in the city and on long hauls and highways.

History of occurrence and design features

  • produced in two versions: atmospheric and turbo;

Standard valve clearances on a hot engine:

  • inlet - 0.15 mm;
  • outlet - 0.25 mm.

On a cold engine, the clearance parameters differ:

  • inlet - 0.07 mm;
  • outlet - 0.17 mm.

The timing drive of this motor uses a belt designed to be replaced after 100 km. In the event of a break, the valve bends (repair will be needed), there is a need for serious financial investments. When replacing the belt, it is better to use the original one. The process requires installation according to special marks (using a camshaft gear). Mitsubishi Lancer for Europe was also produced with this engine. The difference was in the appearance of the car and the interior (dashboard, other). But only until 1988 - a 3rd generation sedan, C12V, C37V. Installation was also carried out in Tsediya. Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia CS2A for Europe in this configuration was produced in 2000 to 2003. This is a sixth generation sedan.

Moreover, it allows solving an important problem of 4g15 operation - the difficulty of starting at a negative temperature.
