The Mitsubishi 4g67 engine is an in-line four-cylinder. Has 16 DOHC valves. Installed from 1988 to 1992. Part of the 4g6 series. This series of units is one of the most common on Mitsubishi cars.

Motor reliability

The reliability of the internal combustion engine is not the highest, especially for Mitsubishi engines. With an increase in mileage, the engine begins to intensively consume oil. Consumption per 5 thousand kilometers can reach 2,5 liters. This is usually due to clogging of the cylinders.

4g67 starts up without problems on cold winter days. The 1,8-liter power unit is not the most high-torque, but overall not bad. The five-speed manual transmission, paired with the engine, generally works fine. However, bearing seizure can occur, resulting in a serious belt. Fortunately, replacement or repair sometimes costs even less than transporting a car on a tow truck.

4g67 sometimes does not slow down during operation. For example, when switching from third gear to neutral gear, the speed does not fall below 1700. In this case, the idle speed sensor, TPS or DMRV may be faulty.

A two-liter analogue was installed on a huge number of cars. It is much more popular than 4g67. 4g63 was released in several modifications, including 113 horsepower. Such a power unit was installed on Delica.

For the swap, it is interesting to use the most sophisticated version of the engine - 4g63T. This "monster" has 230 horsepower and was installed exclusively on rally versions of vehicles. The public version 4g63 has 230 horsepower. In any case, the internal combustion engine has 16 valves, a turbine and a 5 liter lubrication system, which is impressive.

After installing 4g63, you can also upgrade. Ideas for tuning in practice are currently implemented a lot. The hidden potential is simply huge. After some manipulations, the engine can really be improved to a power of 400-500 horsepower.

To get maximum power, 4g63 is supplemented with inexpensive equipment. The MINE'S computer is installed. For the necessary injection, a TRUST TD-06 turbine is used. The TRUST 2.3Kit is also used to increase power.
