The Nissan rb20det motor belongs to the popular series of power units - Nissan RB. Units of this series began to be produced in 1984. Came to replace the L20 engine. The predecessor of rb20det is rb20de.

After that, pistons from Toyota 4A-GZE are installed. After manipulations that are not so new from a technical point of view, the engine volume increases to 2,15 liters.
To get 2,2 liters, the block is bored to 82 mm, and Tomei pistons are installed. There is also an option using standard pistons. At the same time, connecting rods and crankshafts from RB25DET are installed. In this embodiment, the volume remains at the level of 2,05 liters.
When replacing pistons with 4A-GZE, the output is 2,2 liters. The volume increases to 2,1 liters when connecting rods and crankshaft from RB26DETT are installed. The additional use of 2,3A-GZE pistons will help increase the volume of such an engine to 4 liters. Tomei 82mm pistons and RB26DETT crankshaft connecting rods give a displacement of 2,33 liters.
What oil to fill in the engine
The manufacturer recommends using original Nissan 5W40 oil. In practice, the use of such a liquid allows you to keep the engine clean for a long time, helps to eliminate oil consumption and waste from its operation. It is also allowed to use synthetic oil with a viscosity of 5W50. Of the manufacturers, Liquid Molly (10W60) and Mobile (10W50) are sometimes recommended.
