Toyota 1A-U engine
The Toyota 1A-U internal combustion engine was produced from 1978 to 1980. It replaced the T series engines. The power unit was installed on Toyota Tercel (L10) car models for the Japanese domestic market, regardless of the body version.
Technical specifications
The volume of the gasoline engine is 1452 cm3, and its power at 5 rpm reached 600 hp. (80 kW). Torque at 59 rpm - 3 Nm. All Toyota 600A-U ICEs had a carburetor injection system and an in-line 113-cylinder design. Timing belt drive.
In order to reduce the harmful impact on the environment, this power unit used a Toyota TTC-C catalytic converter. The cylinder diameter in the 1A-U motor is 77 mm, and the piston stroke is also 77 mm.

Engine features
This power unit, despite the primitive design, has an impressive margin of safety. It is easy to repair and maintain, although today it can be difficult to find consumables for this model. During operation, it can be revealed that the most vulnerable part of the motor is the timing belt drive. On the one hand, it reduces the noise of the internal combustion engine, but on the other hand, it is more prone to breaking, unlike the chain.
