Engine Volkswagen AXD 2.5

The Volkswagen T5 can be selected from two diesel engines with four different power outputs:

• 1.9 L produces 85 hp. and 105 hp;
• 2.5 produces 131 or 174 hp.

A 2,0bhp 114-liter petrol engine was also offered, but is relatively rare.

Engine 2,5 l. (AXD) - diesel 5-cylinder turbocharged engine. Only with this engine were all-wheel drive cars with VW 4Motion technology.

Together with the 2.5 engine, they began to install a 6-speed manual transmission.

VW AXD 2.5 problems

The camshaft is susceptible to premature wear, a sign of wear will be a misfire in the second cylinder.

There is a problem with injectors leaking due to poor attachment.

The heat exchanger may also begin to leak due to a weak seal, after which the coolant enters either the oil or outside. Therefore, if you notice a low level antifreeze - check the condition of the pump.
