The 2.5-liter Volkswagen AX 2.5 TDI diesel engine was produced from 2003 to 2009 and was installed only on the Transporter, Caravella or Multivan minibuses in the T5 body. There is a modification of this unit for EURO 4 with a particulate filter and the BPC index.

Shortcomings, breakdowns and problems of AX

The main problems are leaks from the seals of the nozzles and the tandem pump

Another aluminum block without sleeves is very afraid of bad diesel fuel and is prone to scuffing

Often, the oil system heat exchanger flows here and the lubricant enters the antifreeze

Closer to 200 km of run, rockers or camshaft cams may already wear out

This unit still has a lot of weaknesses, but they are typical for modern diesel engines.
