Content
Alfa Romeo 159 is an Italian middle class car in the D-segment, first introduced to the car market in 2005. Unlike its predecessor - the 156th model, the new Alfa was supplied in four different trim levels with a large selection of powertrains, transmission types and two body versions - sedan and station wagon. The appearance, which Alfa Centro Style's own design studio worked on, turned out to be so successful that in 2006 Alfa Romeo 159 won first place at the prestigious international festival Fleet World Honors. The Italian novelty also successfully passed the Euro NCAP safety test, receiving the highest score - five stars. The release of the 159th model continued until 2011: for all the time about 250 thousand cars were produced.

Tourism
The Alfa Romeo 159 "Turismo" package differed from the standard basic option of choosing an automatic transmission and a 2.0-liter JTS diesel engine, which was more often chosen for a station wagon car. The availability of 4 more engine options of various modifications in this series and a budget set of standard options made this equipment the most common.
In addition to the basic Standard, the car was equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), immobilizer, central locking, on-board computer and climate control. The cabin provided for seven airbags, including side airbags for passengers, active head restraints, heated rear-view mirrors and windshield, power windows on the front doors, a CD changer with a radio and electric power steering.
Sport Tourism
This version was supplemented with a new 1.75 TBi turbocharged engine, which is capable of delivering 200 hp. in petrol version. Standard Turismo options included steering wheel height adjustment, fog lights, R16 alloy wheels, and body-color factory painted bumper elements and moldings. The main colors for all trim levels of the Alfa Romeo 159 were grey, red and black. Special series in the luxury version acquired the same metallic colors, matte or branded, developed in the company itself: Carbonio Black, Alfa Red, Stromboly Grey. The Turismo Sport edition was equipped with four powerful power units up to 2.4 liters and was also available as a station wagon.
Elegant
In the configuration of Alfa Romeo Elegante, various types of transmission were offered: from the classic five-speed mechanics to the robot with six gears. The drive for the "Elegante" was chosen to be full: the second generation of these cars began to use the American Torsen technology, which provided for a Q4-type dual differential system specifically for passenger transmissions weighing up to 3 kg. Four-wheel drive increased the handling of the 500th model and significantly increased the acceleration dynamics. Combined with a 159-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 1.9 hp, the Alpha accelerated to 150 km/h on a manual transmission in just 100 seconds.
Luxury
The largest selection of additional options and installation options for various engines was offered in the Lusso version. In total, this equipment included 20 possible versions of installing any of eight engines and three types of gearboxes on a car in any type of body (sedan, station wagon). This marketing strategy of the company has paid off: in 2008, the Alfa Romeo 159 entered the top ten best-selling cars in Europe.
The list of installed electronic equipment in Lusso has been updated with Brake Assist brake booster, EBD brake load distribution system, rain sensor, headlight washer and navigation system built into the multifunctional multimedia device. The quality of the upholstery has become available in leather trim.
IT (International Tourism)
The Alfa Romeo 159 TI concept car was unveiled at the 2007 Geneva International Motor Show. The top equipment of the model provided for equipping a powerful V6 engine with a volume of 3.2 liters with a capacity of 260 hp. A special sports suspension reduced the ground clearance by 4 cm, and an aerodynamic body kit was installed on the body. The rims were installed nominally with the 19th radius with ventilated disc brakes of the Brembo system on all wheels. The design included chrome accents on the grille, exhaust pipe and interior trim on the dashboard. The front seats were equipped with a sports version of the “bucket” type with lateral support and a security system for seven attachment points for a belt with a tensioner.

The Alfa Romeo brand is not mass - there are no official dealerships in Russia. Cars from Europe under this brand are usually sold second-hand on the market. The most common engine on the 159 is an upgraded 2.0-litre diesel, so private dealers bring it in to reduce the hassle of spare parts. This type of JTD engine on Alfa Romeo has more standardized analogue parts that are produced by European companies. The 3.2-liter JTS unit is considered the best in its class, but it is much more expensive to maintain than its budget two-liter counterparts.
