Ford Endura-D engines
1.8-liter Ford Endura-D diesel engines appeared in the late 80s of the last century and were installed in many passenger cars and commercial models of the company until 2010. There are two generations of such diesel engines: prechamber Endura-DE and direct injection Endura-DI.
- Endura‑DE diesels
- Endura‑DI diesels
Diesel engines Ford Endura-DE
The 1.8-liter Endura-DE engines replaced the 1.6-liter LT series units in the late 80s. And these were typical pre-chamber diesel engines for their time with a cast-iron cylinder block, a cast-iron 8-valve cylinder head and a timing belt drive. The injection was carried out by a Lucas pump. In addition to atmospheric internal combustion engines for 60 hp. there were versions for 70-90 hp. with a Garrett GT15 turbo. Hydraulic compensators are not provided here and valve clearances are regulated by the selection of washers.
The first generation includes 9 naturally aspirated diesel engines and 9 turbocharged power units:

Diesel engines Ford Endura-DI
In 1998, the second generation of Endura-DI diesel engines appeared on the first generation Ford Focus, the main difference of which was direct fuel injection using the Bosch VP30 injection pump. Otherwise, there is the same cast-iron block with a cast-iron 8-valve cylinder head and a timing belt drive. There were no atmospheric versions, all engines were equipped with Garrett GT15 or Mahle 014TC turbines.
The second generation included only turbodiesels, we know a dozen different modifications:
