Lada Vesta engines: what awaits us?

A few months ago, Avtovaz officially announced the imminent launch of a completely new model Lada Vesta. Of course, no one provided detailed information about the new product, but there are already some points that were highlighted by the representatives of the plant. But most of all, potential buyers of the car are interested in what engines will be installed under the hood.

If you follow some of the speeches of the manufacturer's officials, you could hear that three completely new engine modifications are currently being developed. No one has definitely said that these power units will be designed specifically for Vesta, but apparently this is the case, because it is Vesta that is the most anticipated new product of 2015 from Avtovaz.

1. It has already been said that a new 1,4-liter turbocharged engine has been designed. It also became known that active tests are already underway, including for reliability and environmental standards. Nobody announced the characteristics of the power of the new engine, but we can only assume that the turbocharged engine will develop about 120-130 hp. A slight increase in fuel consumption should be expected in comparison with conventional units, but it is unlikely that it will have an excessive appetite.
2. The second engine of Vesta, possibly, will be a more powerful 1,8-liter. But so far, these are only rumors from various unofficial sources. Whether all this will be embodied in reality, no one knows yet.
3. There are no assumptions about the third option, since Avtovaz carefully hides all the facts from the general public in order to keep the veil of secrecy until the official premiere of Lada Vesta at an exhibition in Moscow in August 2014.

Also, it became known that in addition to new engines, the transmission is also being actively developed. For example, there was a little talk about a new robotic gearbox. Most likely, all this is done for some trim levels of the new Vesta. It remains to wait quite a bit, and we will see the novelty with our own eyes.
