Common malfunctions of A20DTR and A20NFT power units

These motors are much more reliable than their predecessors, however, during operation they also have the ability to deliver certain problems to their owners. In particular, the A20NFT engine is notorious for problems such as:

  • depressurization of the power unit, as a result of which oil leaks can occur in the most unexpected places;
  • the unpredictable resource of the timing belt leads to its breakage and, as a result, bent valves;
  • failure of the electronic throttle, which leads to unstable operation of the internal combustion engine and the corresponding message of the on-board computer;
  • one of the frequent phenomena can be called mechanical damage to the piston, even with small runs of the car;

For diesel power units, the situation with oil and the timing belt looks the same as for the gasoline counterpart, while problems such as:

  • failure of TNDV;
  • clogged nozzles;
  • unstable operation of the turbine.

Each unit can be either installed from the factory or act as a tuning option that allows you to increase the power and dynamics of the machine. If you are doing the installation yourself, do not forget to check the number of the power unit with the original one indicated in the documents. In A20DTR diesel engines, it is located behind the armored wires, slightly to the right and deeper from the probe.
