The Peugeot 207 is a French car that replaced the Peugeot 206, it was shown to the public in early 2006. In the spring of the same year, sales began. In 2012, the production of this model was completed, it was replaced by the Peugeot 208. At one time, the Peugeot 206 was awarded various awards in many countries of the world and it always showed excellent sales figures.
First generation Peugeot 207
The car was sold in three body styles:
- hatchback;
- station wagon;
- hard top convertible.
The most modest engine for this car is a 1,4-liter TU3A with a capacity of 73 horsepower. This is a classic in-line "four", the consumption according to the passport is about 7 liters per 100 kilometers. The EP3C engine is an option that is slightly more powerful, its volume is 1,4 liters (95 “horses”), the internal combustion engine is structurally the same as the one considered, the fuel consumption is 0,5 liters more. ET3J4 is a 1,4-liter power unit (88 horsepower).
But there were better options. EP6/EP6C is a 1,6-liter engine, its power is 120 horsepower. Consumption is about 8l/100km. There was an even more powerful engine for these cars - this is a turbocharged EP6DT with a volume of 1,6 liters, it produced 150 horsepower. But the most "charged" version was equipped with an EP6DTS turbo engine with the same volume of 1,6 liters, it developed a power of 175 "mares".
Two versions of the DV6TED4 diesel power unit with a displacement of 1,6 liters and a power of 90 hp were also offered for this car. or 109 hp, depending on the absence / presence of a turbocharger.
Restyling Peugeot 207
In 2009, the car was updated. Body options remained the same (hatchback, station wagon and hardtop convertible). In particular, they worked on the front of the car (new front bumper, modified foglights, alternative decorative grille). The taillights were equipped with LEDs. Many body elements began to be painted in the main color of the car or finished with chrome. Inside, they worked on the interior, new seat upholstery and a stylish “tidy” stand out here.
There were old motors, some of them remained unchanged, and some were modified. From the pre-styling version, TU3A migrated here (now its power was 75 horsepower), the EP6DT motor had an increase of 6 hp. (156 "mares"). The EP6DTS has been passed over unchanged from the old version, the ET3J4 has also been left intact, as have the EP6/EP6C motors. The diesel version was also retained (DV6TED4 (90/109 "horses")), but it has a new version with 92 hp.

Typical engine problems
This is not to say that the engines are problem-free. But it would be strange to say that they are somehow capricious and consist entirely of "children's sores." But in general, you can highlight the common problems of all engines of the 207th. It is not a fact that all of them appear on each power unit with a 100% probability, but this is something that you should tune in to and keep in mind.
On the TU3A engine, breakdowns of the components of the engine ignition system often occur. There are also cases of floating speed, the reason for this often lies in a clogged throttle valve or IAC failures. It is recommended to monitor the condition of the timing belt, there are cases when he asks for a replacement earlier than after the prescribed ninety thousand kilometers. Engines are very sensitive to overheating, this will cause the valve stem seals to harden. Approximately every seventy to ninety thousand kilometers, it is required to adjust the thermal clearances of the valves.
On EP3C, oil channels sometimes coke, on runs over 150 thousand kilometers, the engine begins to “eat up” oil. The mechanical pump drive clutch is not the most reliable node here, but if the water pump is electric, then it is especially reliable. The oil pump can cause breakdown problems.
ET3J4 is a good engine, the problems on it are minor and more often electrical, ignition. The idle speed sensor can fail, and then the speed will start to float. The timing goes 80000 kilometers, but the rollers can not withstand this interval. The engine does not tolerate overheating, which will lead to the valve stem seals becoming oak, and oil will have to be periodically added to the engine.
EP6/EP6C do not tolerate bad oil and long drain intervals as the passages can start to coke. The phase control system is very expensive to maintain and is afraid of oil starvation. The water pump and oil pump have a small resource.
EP6DT also loves high-quality oil, which is often changed, if this is not done, carbon deposits will quickly appear on the valves, and it will lead to oil burn. Every fifty thousand kilometers, you need to check the tension of the timing chain. Sometimes the partition between the exhaust gas supply circuits in the turbocharger may crack. The injection pump can fail, you can notice this by traction failures and errors that appear. Lambda probes, pump and thermostat are weak points.
EP6DTS shouldn't be officially present in Russia, but it's here. It is difficult to talk about his problems, since he is extremely rare. If we refer to the reviews of foreign owners, then there is a tendency to complain about the rapid appearance of soot, noise in the operation of the motor and vibration from it. Sometimes the speed floats, but this is eliminated by flashing. Valves need to be adjusted periodically.
DV6TED4 loves good fuel, its main problems are related to the EGR and FAP filter, in the engine compartment it is very difficult to get to some nodes, the electrical part of the motor is not very reliable.
