Jeep Compass and Renegade. New hybrid version

The new hybrid powertrain will debut with a 1,5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 130 hp. and 240 Nm of maximum torque mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The introduction of new hybrid versions is scheduled for March.

The new models join the 4xe plug-in hybrid versions, which now account for more than 25% of the brand's total sales in Europe.

Jeep Compass and Renegade. New hybrid-electric variant

The new models will debut with a hybrid system featuring a new 1,5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Global Small Engine with 130 hp.

The transmission includes an integrated 48-volt electric motor with 15 kW (20 hp) and 55 Nm of torque, corresponding to 135 Nm of torque at the transmission input, which can turn the wheels even when the internal combustion engine is turned off. Compared to previous petrol models, the new versions provide up to 15% lower fuel consumption and COXNUMX emissions.₂.

With new hybrid technology, the Jeep Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid models represent a new alternative in the front-wheel drive segment.

The braking system of the new Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid includes an "intelligent braking system" that offers a "self-charging" function using blended regenerative braking to maximize kinetic energy recovery and improve efficiency.

Various functions allow you to drive in electric mode ("EV functions"). These include:

• Silent start: Starting the car without switching on the petrol engine, thanks to the silent EV driving mode with a purely electric drive
• Energy recovery: recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted when the car slows down ("e-Coasting") and brakes ("regenerative braking")
• "Boost and Load Point Shift": "E-Boosting" allows you to increase the torque at the wheels thanks to the electric motor supporting the gasoline engine; in addition, using the torque (driving or braking) generated by the electric motor, the operating point of the gasoline engine can be optimized.
• "Electric drive": The vehicle can operate quietly and with zero emissions using only the electric motor with the petrol engine turned off.

The new Jeep Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid can be used in a variety of driving modes using only the electric motor (and with the petrol engine turned off). This is possible thanks to a wide range of electric modes of operation, known as "electric vehicle capabilities", which include:

• "Electronic Launch": Starting the vehicle with the electric motor only, during starting or restarting, for example at a traffic light
• E-Creeping“: The electric motor provides the starting power normally found in automatic transmission vehicles at speeds that can fluctuate.

  0 km/h to the speed obtained with the petrol engine idling in first gear or reverse gear (e.g. when maneuvering)

• "Electronic queue": The vehicle may be stuck in traffic due to stop and start in all-electric mode.
• "Electronic Parking": to facilitate parking maneuvers that can only be performed with electric drive, for practical and quiet driving. 

"EV Capabilities" are available depending on the state of charge of the battery and the required power output.

The technology used in the Jeep Renegade and Compass offers a variety of driving modes. A dedicated dashboard allows the driver to control all parameters of the hybrid system and provides full control while driving.

The Uconnect NAV infotainment system with 8,4-inch or 10,1-inch touchscreen (Compass only) offers enhanced on-board connectivity and wireless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new Renegade and Compass hybrid models offer connected services such as an installed Uconnect™ Box to access Uconnect™ Services and a range of features available through various touchpointssuch as the My Uconnect mobile app, smartwatch, website, overhead console buttons, and voice assistants (Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant).

With the My Uconnect mobile app, customers have access to a range of services that make it easy and quick to manage vehicle health, maintenance, remote location monitoring, locking and unlocking doors, turning on the lights, getting help when needed, and more. .

Uconnect™ services include:

• My Assistant: Connects the customer to the operator in the event of a breakdown or the need for roadside assistance based on geolocation data.
• "My Remote": allows customers to remotely control their car anytime, anywhere.
• "My car": allows you to monitor the status of the car and check its most important parameters.
• My Navigation: Allows you to send destination data to the car's navigation system directly from the My Uconnect mobile app, receive real-time updates on traffic, weather and speed cameras, display points of interest and wireless map updates in over-air (compass only)

From a safety point of view, standard equipment includes a traffic sign recognition system that reads and interprets traffic signs ("Road Sign Recognition"), an intelligent speed assistant "Intelligent Speed ​​Assist", which automatically adjusts the vehicle's speed to read limits. from detected traffic signs, Drowsy Driver Alert to help alert a tired driver when their attention is deteriorating, and Automatic Emergency Brake Pedestrian/Cycist Detection (Automatic Emergency Brake Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection) (compass only) which slows the vehicle to a complete stop to prevent or mitigate the effects of an accident.

In addition, Compass offers a new "Highway Assist" system. For the first time on a Jeep model sold in Europe, this driver assistance system offers Level 2 (L2) autonomous driving using a combination of adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist to automatically adjust speed and course correction when driving on the highway.

A wide range of personalization options are available, including a contrasting black roof and eight different body colors for the Renegade and seven for the Compass, as well as a new Matter Azur color unique to the Upland version.
