E-Fuso Vision One: first electric super heavyweight on the market signed by Daimler

Drama at the Tokyo Motor Show. While all visitors waited for Tesla to finally unveil its semi-electric model, it was manufacturer Daimler who made the surprise by unveiling their car: the E-Fuso Vision One. This is nothing more and nothing less than the first electric heavy-duty vehicle.

Tesla, number 1 in the world of electric vehicles, overtakes Daimler!

The Tokyo Motors Show was a great opportunity for Daimler Trucks and its subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation to unveil the VERY first electric truck called: E-Fuso Vision One. It is an evolution of a concept already presented in 2016, a 26-ton juggernaut with a range of 200 kilometers called the Urban eTruck at the time. With some modifications, the E-Fuso Vision One improves performance and therefore offers a maximum range of 350 kilometers and a GVW of 23 tonnes. The car gets autonomy from a set of batteries capable of providing up to 300 kWh. According to the manufacturer, this electric truck will be able to carry 11 tons of payload, which is “only” two tons less than a diesel-powered truck of a similar size.

Marketing expected in only four years

The E-Fuso Vision One is for regional intercity travel only. In a press release, the manufacturer said it still takes a significant amount of time to develop an electric truck suitable for long-distance transport. In addition, with regard to the E-Fuso Vision One truck, the manufacturer believes that the promotion of the model to "mature" markets can only be considered in four years. We will have to wait until potential customers such as Japan and Europe can offer the fast charging infrastructure required for the development of electric vehicles.

One way or another, the manufacturer Daimler, having released its model, went one step ahead of Tesla. According to Elon Musk's Twitter announcement, this famous model, which is rumored to have a range of up to 480 kilometers, will be unveiled on November 26.
