eBMX: When BMX Goes Electric

Extreme, technical and spectacular cycling, BMX goes electric. In the United States, ProdecoTech has developed the first prototype that seeks to fund through community platforms.

Electric BMX. Have you dreamed about it? ProdecoTech has done it! An American manufacturer from Florida has developed a prototype. This electric bike, simply called eBMX, uses BMX technical codes to which it adds a set of electrical components. The electric motor mounted in the rear wheel is available in two versions, 250 W or 350 W, and helps the pilot reach speeds of up to 25 or 32 km / h, respectively.

In terms of battery, eBMX uses Samsung technology and offers two types of batteries, 5.7 or 8.7 Ah with 25.9 V, and provides 40 to 60 kilometers of autonomy. It is integrated very discreetly into the frame tube.

In terms of weight, ProdecoTech manages to limit breakage and announces that the total weight of the eBMX is around 16kg, which is about 4kg more than the classic BMX.

Saddle, handlebars, cranks, etc.… Obviously, the eBMX can be customized to the owner's liking.

ProdecoTech announces first shipments in April 2017 with a sale price of $ 1399, or roughly € 1340.
