Eccity wants to fund its three-wheeled electric scooter through crowdfunding

An electric scooter maker on the French Riviera is turning to crowdfunding to accelerate the development of its three-wheeled model.

The company, which has been selling a full range of e-scooters for several years now, is aiming to raise € 1 million by relying on crowdfunding crowdfunding platform WiSEED. The Grasse SME project is currently in the voting phase, a step imposed by the platform that allows the best projects to be approved.

The Eccity three-wheeled electric scooter, unveiled at the 2017 EICMA in Milan, combines technologies already used on the brand's models and adds a tilt-and-turn system. Unlike the Piaggio MP3, which has two wheels at the front, the Eccity has two wheels at the back.

The three-wheeled Eccity is powered by a 5 kWh battery and is designed for a range of up to 3 kilometers. Approved in category 100 (L125e), it uses a 3 kW electric motor and claims a top speed of 5 km / h. In practical terms, the Eccity will be equipped with a reverse gear to facilitate handling during maneuvers.

Eccity plans to launch in 2019. Schedule, which can obviously change depending on the results of the fundraising campaign.
