Electric cargo bike: It beats Hermes and Liefery

The second generation of the "Pedal Transporter", developed by the German startup, has just integrated two pilot projects in Berlin, led by logistics groups Hermes and Liefery.

The e-bike is on the rise for the last mile delivery. While we were talking about an experiment launched by UK start-up EAV with DPD a few days ago, It is also announcing new programs. In Berlin, the manufacturer has just joined forces with Hermes and Liefery to integrate the second generation of its electric cargo bike. Equipped with two electric motors, it can load a volume of more than two cubic meters.

“Partners want to evaluate several parameters, such as the ability of the logistics industry to switch from conventional delivery vehicles to ONOs, the degree of replacement, and the payload of a truck in real situations,” the startup explains in a statement.

Start of production in 2020

Based on the results of these first prototypes, which will better gauge market appetite, ONO plans to start mass production of its model from spring 2020.

« We are delighted to be able to demonstrate in practice with our truck that cargo bikes are an efficient alternative to conventional transport solutions and that our ONO, in particular, is best suited to the needs of urban logistics. "- emphasizes Beres Zilbach, co-founder and director of ONO.
