Electric Porsche - emotions without a gram of exhaust gases

Did you know that the first car designed by Ferdinand Porsche was an electric one? Of course, that electric Porsche was nothing like the current Taycan on the road, for example. It doesn't change the fact that history has just come full circle. However, the current point is technological light years away from the origin. So, what innovations did the German manufacturer bring? Find out from our text!

Is the New Electric Porsche a Competitor to Tesla?

For some time, every newly created electric car will be unwittingly compared with its models offered by Elon Musk. The electric Porsche has not escaped similar comparisons either. What models are we talking about? It:

  • Taykan Turbo;
  • Taycan Turbo S;
  • Taikan Cross Turismo.

It's a completely different league than the electrification pioneer's cars. Although the first model on paper shares performance with the Tesla Model 5, things are almost completely different here.

Porsche Taycan Electric Vehicle Specifications

In the basic version, the car has a power of 680 hp. and 850 Nm of torque. The Taycan Turbo S version is 761 hp. and more than 1000 Nm, which is even more impressive. Unfortunately, it's hard to describe the sensation of blood flowing from the head and being pressed into the incredibly precisely shaped seats. You should feel it at least once and then repeat it, because the electric Porsche can be compared to the most addictive drugs available on the market. It is much better than them - you can buy it legally and brag about it all the time. Provided, of course, that you have a rich enough wallet ...

The latest electric Porsche and its lineup

Basic version of the 680 hp model. has a theoretical power reserve of about 400 km. That's not bad considering the available power and weight of 2,3 tons. However, as is the case with theories, it happens that they are not covered by road tests. However, they do not differ from the forecasts. When driving off-road without sudden acceleration, the electric Porsche travels just over 390 km on a single charge. Changing the driving mode and its characteristics does not significantly reduce this distance, which is reduced to 370 km. These are amazing values, especially compared to those declared by the manufacturer. And all this from two batteries with a total capacity of 93 kWh.

Porsche electric vehicle range and its gearbox

Another point affects the maximum range in this model. This is a gearbox. This may sound rather strange, because electric motors usually do not work in tandem with gears. Here, however, the electric Porsche surprises because it combines an engine with a two-speed gearbox to save energy at higher speeds. This is because the unit develops a maximum speed of 16 rpm, which is quite a good result even for electricians.

New electric Porsche and handling

The model car driver from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen is accustomed to driving comfort and emotion in corners. In this case, it's completely different. Why? Thanks to the use of an electric motor and an unusually low center of gravity, the Porsche Taycan is able to handle curves and chicanes like glue without letting off the gas. At the same time, there is no particularly pronounced body roll when driving, which is unattainable even for models such as the latest 911.

Acceleration of the latest electric Porsche

Considering their incredible power and torque, they can fade a bit at a curb weight of 2,3 tons. However, this does not prevent the driver from firing this projectile and reaching the first hundred in just 3,2 seconds. In the Turbo S version, the electric Porsche reduces this to 2,8 seconds, which is quite achievable. Not without importance here is the Launch Control system, which carries out the ejection process up to 20 times in a row.

Porsche Taycan electric car and interior

If we take into account the comfort and finish of this car inside, then there is absolutely no room for any comments. The seats are low, but there is no feeling of a deep drawdown. You just sit at a low height, as it should be for sports models. Nevertheless, this is a very practical car, which is especially evident in the two trunks. The first (front) has enough space for power cables. The second is so roomy that you can safely load the most necessary luggage into it. You can also put a lot of things in the compartments adapted for this.

Porsche Taycan and the first glitches

What can bother the owner of this sports limousine? Possibly touch screens. In principle, apart from a few buttons on the steering wheel and a gearshift paddle next to it, there are no other manual control buttons at the disposal of the driver. You can control media, receivers and everything else with touch and voice. While the first method requires you to take your eyes off the road, the second requires a bit of patience. For a potential owner of an electric Porsche accustomed to manual control, this can be an insurmountable step.

Electric Porsche - the price of individual models

The base version of the electric Porsche, i.e. the Taycan, costs 389 euros, in return you get a 00 hp car capable of driving just over 300 km on a single charge. The Taycan Turbo variant is much more expensive. You will pay 408 euros. The Taycan Turbo S version is already approaching a million and costs 662 euros. Remember that we are talking about basic versions. You will have to pay an additional PLN 00 for 802-inch carbon fiber wheels with a special profile. The Burmester sound system costs another 00 euros. Thus, you can easily reach the level of 21 thousand.

Brilliant driving solutions and a very large range mean there should be no shortage of people looking to buy new electric Porsche vehicles. A certain problem in our country can be fast chargers, or rather their absence. Along with the development of electrical infrastructure, sales should gradually increase. The electric Porsche, however, is still a premium sports car that comes at a price.
