Electric bike: a big hit to help buy Lille Métropole

Launched in early April, the Electric Bike Assistance launched by Métropole de Lille has been a huge success. To date, MEL has received 2 grant applications, including 000 full refundable files, and is announcing an extension to September 1, 000.

« This assistance is very popular with the residents of the capital. I congratulate them for their enthusiasm and commitment to change their travel habits. ”, Rejoices Damien Castelin, President of the European metropolis of Lille. Thus, a budget of 600.000 euros will be submitted to the vote of the Metropolitan Council on June 1, 2017 to confirm its extension until September 30, 2017.

Help up to € 300 for an e-bike

Although trips less than 5 km away account for 70% of trips within a metropolitan area, almost half of which are by car, this assistance aims to facilitate a change in modes of transport for metropolitan residents. Objective: To relieve traffic congestion while reducing pollution from heavy use of private vehicles.

Introduced on April 1, Metropolitan Aid is set at 25% of the purchase price, including a bicycle tax of up to € 150 for a “classic” bike and € 300 for an electric bike. In return, the beneficiaries must sign a charter in which they commit to use their bicycles for everyday travel.
