Electric bike: 2018 bonus limited to tax-free households

Published in the Official Journal this Sunday, December 31st, the decree regarding assistance in purchasing clean vehicles officially renews the bonus for electric bikes for 2018, but with much stricter rules.

If the amounts remain unchanged from last year with the aid set at 20% of the purchase price and at 200 euros, the new device is now limited to households “whose income tax for the year preceding the acquisition of the cycle is zero”, that is ... tax-free households.

Unlike the 2017 scheme, which did not apply if assistance was already provided in the community, 2018 assistance could not be provided.” if assistance for the same purpose has been provided by local authorities ”. The state specifies that the combination of the two will not exceed € 200 or represent more than 20% of the purchase price of an electric bike.

Please note that the device will officially go into effect on February 1, 2018, which means that e-bikes purchased in January are still using the old, open-to-all system.

€ 100 less on electric two-wheelers and quads

For vehicles licensed in category L, the amount of assistance is slightly reduced from 1000 to 900 euros.

The criteria are the same as last year and the device does not contain lead-acid batteries and is intended for models over 3 kW. The same for the calculation method: € 250 per kWh within 27% of the purchase price.

However, this decrease can be offset by a conversion premium. Now device-integrated electric two-wheelers and quads can charge up to € 1100 for tax-free households (€ 100 for others). Conditions: Scrapping of a gasoline car built before 1997 or a diesel car built before 2001 (2006 for tax-exempt households).
