Electric bike: Goodwatt offers a one month trial to employees.

Created by the Ministry of Environmental Transformation, this system offers companies the opportunity to test their employees on an electric bike for a month to help them become sustainable.

Goodwatt is a turnkey offer for employers interested in greening their employees' vehicles. This system, developed by Mobilités Demain, a sustainable mobility consulting firm, is part of O'vélO!'s CEE (Energy Conservation Certificates) program supported by ADEME. Its goal is clear: to make the electric bike accessible to as many people as possible.

Sebastian Rosenfeld, Director of the CEE O'vélO! and Goodwatt points out how it works: “Within 1 month, employees try an electric bike for free in training and support. So they figure out if an electric bike is made for them before considering using it all the time. "

XNUMX in XNUMX French people are attracted to electric bicycles

To combat the brakes that prevent the curious from getting started, Goodwatt relies on comprehensive employee support: electric bike and accessories rentals, safety training, digital training, and a mobile app to help and motivate.

The bike of choice is the Gitane model from Cycleurope Industries, available in two sizes, with an aluminum frame designed for the city and its autonomy of 120 km. All this is accompanied by a kit for the perfect cyclist: helmet, lock, saddle cover, rain cover, tire sealant, saddlebags, seat and children's helmet. If with all this the beneficiaries of the test don't fall in love with the electric bike, we don't know what to do!

Employers have a lot to win

If 85% of the system is funded by EWC, the company would have to pay € 3 excluding taxes to deploy Goodwatt to its employees. They don't have to pay anything. But why would an employer spend that much money and give their teams a month to test e-bikes? Many reasons :

  • The Mobility Orientation Act (LOM) of December 24, 2019 specifies that companies with more than 50 employees on a single site must compile Employer mobility plan... This should orient travel practices towards more efficient modes of transport. Invite employees to ride a bike, it works!
  • Even without this legal obligation, many CSR policies are starting to encourage soft and carbon-free mobilityfor example, fleets of companies running on electricity or natural gas, and zero-emission shuttles to support employees on site. How about electric bicycles?
  • Let's not forget that in an era when the rules of marketing, companies are fully interested in green is their image as much as possible. By offering their employees the opportunity to ride an electric bike, they will be able to communicate this green approach and attract customers in accordance with these values.

Summing up, calmly

The device already exists in the major cities of Nantes and Rennes, and will soon be deployed in Strasbourg, Amiens, Lille and Lyon.

Limited to 20 employees at a time, the trial month ends with an assessment for each member and support for those looking to purchase an electric bike. The employer also receives a report showing the impact of the device on the company: total CO.2 savings, distance traveled, frequency of use of electric bikes ...

Goodwatt also offers the company advice on building a green mobility package and information on local help for buying electric bikes. A commendable initiative that will hopefully give many French people a taste of the cycle!
