European bond

Zinc, copper, manganese, lithium, nickel, etc. Electric bike batteries contain several materials that are hazardous to the environment and human health if not properly disposed of.

Consequently, the collection, recycling, treatment and disposal of batteries and accumulators is regulated on a European scale by Directive 2006/66 / EC, better known as the “Battery Directive”.

Applicable to all batteries that are primarily used in electric bicycles, the Directive makes it mandatory for them to be recycled and prohibits any incineration or disposal. Battery manufacturers must finance the costs of collection, treatment and recycling of used batteries and accumulators.

Therefore, in practice, sellers and sellers of electric bicycles are required to collect any used battery.
