Electric Bicycle: Towards National Procurement Aid in France?

Speaking to the press, Club des Villes et Territoires Cyclables is calling on the government to create national assistance to buy any electric bike.

“More than a policy of small steps, we need a real national strategy for active mobility” thundered a press release Club des Villes et Territoires Cyclables, broadcast on Wednesday, November 2.

Calling on the government to implement a "true national strategy" for cycling and walking, the association is calling for a national bonus for any purchase of an electric bike. While the government is looking into the implementation of the bonus for two electric wheels - motorcycles and scooters - from January 1, 2017, the association is surprised that its proposal to extend it to electric bikes was not supported.

« Parliamentarians involved in cycling have made this request to the Secretary of State for Transport, emphasizing that pedele sales are constantly on the rise with 100000 units sold in 2015, and recalling that a recent evaluation study of cycling services by ADEME found that aid for buying these bikes results in a significant reduction in car use" emphasized in the press release of the Club.

The club believes that the electric bike is more than just a leisure tool, it has become a true mobility service for the French and "A powerful tool for modal transition from single machine to alternative modes"... Will this appeal be considered? A case to follow!
