Electric bike: Merida wants to speed up production in Europe

With the new investment, the German group aims to increase production of electric bicycles in Europe to 90.000 by 2022 units per year by the year XNUMX.

In total, the group plans to invest 18 million euros over three years to install a third production line at the Hildburghausen plant in Germany. 

« We currently produce about 2.000 e-bikes per month in Hildburghausen. This year the capacity will be about 18.000 2020 units. In 30, we want to increase this number to 000 units. ”, confirms the brand representative at Bike Europe. By 2022, production at the production site in Hildburghausen is expected to reach 90.000 units per year. 

In this way, the group is able to meet the growing market demand for electric bicycles for its Merida and Centurion brands, which are now equipped with Bosch systems and are being assembled at the group's production site in Germany.
