Electric car - is it worth it today? What are the benefits of using such a vehicle?

Without a doubt: we are living in a changing of the guard in the automotive industry. The beginning of the end of combustion vehicles also heralds the beginning of the era of electromobility. But does it make sense to use an "electrician" in our Polish conditions? There are no charging points, and not every electric car drives into the bus lane. Surcharge for a purchase? Probably there will be, but it is not yet known exactly when and in what quantity. But ... don't give up hope.

The moment seems perfect ...

Let's start with the prices and purchase of the "electrics" itself. The good news is that electric vehicles are exempt from paying excise taxes. This means that we will not pay excise tax, neither in a situation where we want to bring an "electrician" from abroad, nor a salon selling new cars will not add it to the price. Note: Zero excise applies only to pure electric vehicles running on hydrogen and plug-in hybrids with an internal combustion engine up to 2 liters (here only until the end of 2022). In the case of "regular" hybrids (without the possibility of charging from the socket) and the plug-in version with a motor above 2000 cc. See, you can only count on the so-called preferential rates. So in such a situation, the excise tax is halved - in the case of "ordinary" hybrids with internal combustion engines with a capacity of up to 2 liters, the excise tax is 1,55 percent, and in the case of hybrids and plug-in versions with internal combustion engines with a capacity of 2-3,5 liters - 9,3, XNUMX percent).

Buying electric vehicles is still expensive

The bad news when it comes to buying a new "electric car" is that while these are relatively expensive cars, in order to take advantage of them, you must first dig in your pocket. Or - which even makes more sense! - take advantage of the offer of renting an electrician or leasing an electric car... Prices for the cheapest models usually start at $ 100. (Segment A), but the electrical equipment of segments B and C usually costs PLN 120–150 thousand. Zloty and above. Government Grant Program? It was, but it's over. It should start again, most likely in the first half of 2021. Another bad news is that free charging points are starting to fade away, while finding a free fast charger in the city today takes a lot of luck. So you usually have to pay for charging - either in the city or as part of the higher electricity bills at home. By the way, a charging station in your own garage seems to be the smartest idea at the moment, but only a few can afford it. Not so much because of the cost of installation and the equipment itself, but because of the lack of ... a garage.

Electric cars keep getting better

So what's the only bad news? Not at all! There are at least a few good ones, apart from the zero excise tax. So, the real mileage of the ones produced now electric vehicles are increasingly exceeding the 400 km mark , whereas until recently it was only 80–150 km. Often, connecting to a fast charger, even for a few minutes, allows you to restore the power reserve by at least several tens of kilometers. In addition, an electric vehicle usually has good performance and can be maneuverable in heavy city traffic - maximum torque is available "immediately" the performance of 0-80 km / h and 0-100 km / h is usually much better than combustion vehicles. gases of similar power. Added to this are the conveniences associated with parking - you do not need to pay for paid parking in the city's paid parking zones.(not for hybrids and plugins!).

Note: if this parking lot is private and is located, for example, in a supermarket, shopping center, train station, etc., then you still have to pay, because in such places there are separate rules established by the administrator of this area.

Electric vehicle users can also use the so-called bus lanes , which in the context of moving around a densely populated city is also a great convenience. But be careful when it comes to the possibility of leaving bus lanes as long as it is valid until January 1, 2026 (what then? We don't know ...) and does not apply to hybrids (including plugins). as well as electric vehicles equipped with so-called range extenders.

To sum up

Undoubtedly, the era of electric vehicles has begun in the world, which also originates in Poland. And the pressure to switch to greener cars from the media and EU authorities will only increase. Therefore, if you are thinking of changing your vehicle, an electrician will be the perfect choice for the near future. Only a fairly large barrier to entry in the form of the cost of the car can be contained, but it can also be overcome thanks to the growing number of offers for leases and long-term rentals.
