Electric vehicles with the ability to mount on a towbar and a range of up to 300 km [LIST]

A few days ago, there was information about the Tesla Model 3, which will be available for purchase with a towbar. Since a group of electric car drivers in Poland were asked about hook and long range electric vehicles, we decided to compile such a list.

Table of contents

  • Electric vehicle with towbar and long range travel
      • Electric vehicles with a towbar and mileage of 300+ km with a trailer
      • Electric vehicles with a tow bar and a range of less than 300 km
      • Electric vehicles with mileage of 300+ km, but WITHOUT towbar approval.

There are no official range measurements for EVs with a trailer. Finding them will be quite difficult, since the caravan is not the same in size and weight. Therefore, after examining foreign discussion forums and Tesla Szczecin profile (source), we assumed that towing will reduce the electrician's range by 50 percent for a large trailer (1,8 tonnes with brakes) and 35 percent for a smaller trailer (less than 1 tonne).

It should be remembered that these values are taken by the editors arbitrarily, because cars have different towing capacity and different permissible trailer weights, and the trailers themselves have different shapes. It is also worth noting that the ranges are lower, although the permitted maximum speeds for vehicles with a trailer are respectively up to 70 km/h on a single carriageway, up to 80 km/h on a dual carriageway and up to 50/60 km. / h in built-up areas - and lower speed means less power consumption, so slightly better range.

Now let's move on to the list:

Electric vehicles with a towbar and mileage of 300+ km with a trailer

  • Tesla Model 3 with all-wheel drive – real range 499 km, ~ 320 km with a smaller trailer (towing up to 910 kg),
  • Tesla Model X 100D, P100D, Large AWD Range – 465+ km real range, ~ 300 km with a smaller trailer, ~ 230 km with a large trailer.

Electric vehicles with a tow bar and a range of less than 300 km

  • Tesla Model X 90D / P90D - 412/402 km real range, ~ 260-270 km with a smaller trailer,
  • Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus - real range 386 km, range ~ 250 km with a smaller trailer,
  • Tesla Model X 75D – actual range 383 km, ~ 250 km with a smaller trailer, ~ 200 km with a large trailer,
  • Jaguar I-Pace - real range 377 km, range ~ 240 km with a smaller trailer (weight up to 750 kg),
  • Mercedes EQC 400 4matic – 330-360 km real range, ~ 220 km with a smaller trailer,
  • Audi e-tron Quattro – Actual range 328 km, range ~ 210 km with a smaller trailer.

Electric vehicles with mileage of 300+ km, but WITHOUT towbar approval.

  • Hyundai Kona Electric 64 hp,
  • Kia e-Niro 64 kWh,
  • Chevrolet Bolt / Opel Ampere,
  • Tesla Model S (all versions),
  • Nissan Leaf and +,
  • ...

The latest inventory is not exhaustive. However, it should be assumed that electric vehicles below the D / D-SUV segment do not have the ability to install a towbar due to insufficient battery charge and weak engines.
