Electric motorcycles and scooters: sales in Europe jumped 51.2% in the first quarter

While the motorized two-wheeler market declined 6.1% year-over-year, the electric two-wheeler segment recorded record sales in Europe in the first quarter of 2018.

According to ACEM, the Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers in Europe, the market for electric two-wheelers (bicycles, motorcycles and quads) grew 51.2% compared to the first quarter of 2017, with 8281 registrations recorded in three months.

France has the largest sales of this vehicle category in Europe with 2150 registrations, ahead of the Dutch (1703), Belgians (1472), Spaniards (1258) and Italians (592).

In terms of segment distribution, electric scooters remain the most popular, with 5824 50.8 units registered, an increase of 1501% over the same period last year. In this category, the Netherlands is in first place with 1366 registrations, while Belgium and France complete the podium with 1204 and 908 units sold, respectively. With 310 and XNUMX registrations, Spain and Italy are in fourth and fifth places.

In terms of electric motorcycles, the market jumped 118.5% in the first three months, with a total of 1726 registered people. France leads this segment with 732 registrations (+ 228%), followed by Spain and the Netherlands with 311 and 202 units sold, respectively.
